El Mirage
El Mirage is a suburban community located 17 miles northwest of the metro area in Phoenix and the city has a population of roughly 35,000 people. The original inhabitants of El Mirage were Native Americans who specialized in irrigation. Migrant farmers then began to settle down in the area by the 1930s and El Mirage was officially incorporated as a city in 1951.
Many people in the area know El Mirage for its unique heritage and agricultural history. In recent years, the community has experienced robust economic growth. El Mirage is a partner of the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone. This is an agreement involving multiple communities that promotes growth and economic development in the West Valley
Living in El Mirage
It is extremely affordable to live in El Mirage. The area offers a small-town feel, but residents are also only a 20-minute drive from downtown Phoenix. The population has grown exponentially in recent years. Only 10,000 people were living in the area as recently as 2012 and many consider El Mirage to be one of the fastest-growing communities in the country. The median household income has also increased by about 59% in the past two decades and the percent of the population living below the poverty level is decreasing every year. Also, median home prices in the city have nearly doubled since 2000.

Things to do in El Mirage
Near El Mirage is Lake Pleasant Regional Park where many central Arizona natives spend the day water skiing, tubing, and relaxing out in the sun. Lake Pleasant also features several beautiful beaches where you can lay in the sand and hang out with your loved ones. Many special events and annual festivals also take place in El Mirage and they attract visitors from all around the region. This includes the popular Cinco De Mayo Fiesta in Gentry Park which features great food, good music, and a community market that serves $2 beers and $3 margaritas! Also, if you are in El Mirage, then you should visit the Arizona Military Museum which contains several exhibits that tell the story of the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors. If you get the chance, you should also check out the Westgate Entertainment District where there are a plethora of dining and shopping options. You can also enjoy some live music while you are there and find an area to sit in the shade and enjoy the weather.
