It is also home to the infamous Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine. Along the Apache Trail, you can even visit the Goldfield Ghost Town and take a tour of the mine and pan for gold. If you get a chance, you should also visit the Superstition Mountain Museum to see some relics and artifacts that are unique to the area. The museum also features movie sets, carriages, and a collection of native animals that have been preserved via taxidermy. There are the virtually endless expanses of the Sonoran Desert; acres upon acres of desert landscapes and mountain ranges that offer infinite adventure and excitement. Also located near Apache Junction is Canyon Lake where you can go scuba diving, hiking, or you can layout on the beach and have some fun in the sun. The Tonto National Forest is also located in Apache junction; it is the 5th largest forest in the United States because it encompasses three million acres of land. The Tonto National Forest features two lakes, countless creeks and streams, and a wide range of plant life and animals.
